School Days

Our second week of school went really well. Not only did we get all our work done, but we managed to have fun while doing so! Here are some shots from the week.

This little ( or big) critter served as a perfect backdrop for our lesson on exoskeletons! The boys spend most of their days in our little stream, but this guy was almost big enough to cook for dinner. It's so neat when you can give a lesson in school and then drive it home by having them fish the biggest crayfish they have ever caught out of our stream! (below Michael is holding an 'average' size crayfish, while Tom has the small lobster!)

We're going to try to make Fridays "special days"around these here  parts. Today we focused on Arts and Crafts once our Math and Reading was done. I picked up some supplies from the dollar store and we all got busy! (Mary was in heaven!) There is something about a child donning a smock that makes my heart smile. Maybe its because that only really happens when you are very little, that time passes quickly and you never hear it spoken outside of kindergarten, and so the whole word 'smock' holds a sort of enchantment in it for me.
